SUSTAINABLE POWER SOLUTIONS WINS 2009 UTAH INNOVATION AWARD PART 1

Small Business in Provo, Utah Recognized for Innovative Carbon Capture Technology

Provo, Utah May 8, 2009 -- On April 30th, sustainable power Solutions (SES) won first place in the annual Utah Innovation Awards. Each year a committee comprised of Utah professionals in many technology fields selects winners, finalists, and honorable mentions for the innovation award. This year a record 131 entrants in nine categories competed for the awards.

SES was selected the winner in the Clean Technology and energy Category for a process that separates CO2 from flue (exhaust) gases more cost effectively and uses significantly less energy than alternatives. The technology being commercialized by SES is licensed from the Fulton College of Engineering and Technology at Brigham Young University.

"Many scientists believe CO2 emission is among the world's most significant technical challenges. The SES technology represents a direct response to this challenge," said Brent Webb, associate academic vice president for research and graduate studies at BYU. "This innovative technology solution has the potential to greatly reduce the energy and economic impacts of addressing CO2 emissions from all combustion systems compared to alternative energy systems. We are pleased to have it recognized by the Utah Innovation Award sponsor and technical professionals."
